How do I determine my highest academic qualification?
Use the following options to determine your highest academic qualification as of Census Day, May 20th, 2026:
1.None
This option is recorded for those individuals who have not passed any examinations or attained any academic qualifications.
2. School Leaving Certificate, High School Diploma, G.C.S.E., C.X.C., or I.B
The qualifications in this group are C.X.C./G.C.E./G.C.S.E./I.G.C.S.E. ‘O’ Levels. Under this response category include the Primary Certificate of Education (P.C.E.), which may be held by some non-Bermudians. An individual whose highest level of academic qualification is the Bermuda Secondary School Certificate (B.S.S.C.) or the Bermuda School Certificate (B.S.C.) is included in this response option.
3. Technical/Vocational College Certificate
These certificates generally include post- secondary qualifications and take approximately one to two school years to complete. Examples are certificates from secretarial and junior business or technical colleges.
4. Associate Degree/Bermuda College Diploma
This category is for persons with a Bermuda College Diploma (2 year programme). Such programmes provide students with basic education and training in a variety of disciplines, such as culinary arts and computer studies. These programmes are designed for those students who plan to enter the workforce directly after graduation. This category is also for persons with an associate degree from Bermuda College or a North American college (usually 2 years) and those with G.C.E. ‘A’ Level passes in two or more subjects. Also included are the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (C.A.P.E) and the Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.). These programmes are designed for those students who plan to transfer to a university.
